Welcome

ANS Student sections provide a means for students to develop professionally though affiliation with an international organization of nuclear scientists and engineers. A student section may be established in any school that confers academic degrees and offers a curriculum in nuclear science and technology. There are currently 36 active student sections that include about 1200 national ANS student members.

The ANS Student Section at the University of New Mexico was established in the 1960s and has provided an opportunity for students to be involved in outreach, public information and forums for the presentation of factual information on the role of nuclear science and engineering in everyday life.

The student sections of the ANS are an important segment of the ANS membership. The student members play active roles in public information and professional development and are beginning to play a more important role in the governance of the ANS. The principle advantage to joining the student branch is the opportunity to become involved in a vigorously active young Society at an early point in your career. The Student Branch provides a forum for you to interact with professionals and peers across the nuclear-related fields and to participate in Student Conferences and National Meetings.
